CHCPRT025 – Identify and report children and young people at risk

Introduction

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify children and young people who are at risk and report in line with legislative requirements. This work occurs within legislative and policy frameworks and carries a duty of care responsibility.

This unit applies to workers in a range of job roles providing services to children and young people including in community services and health contexts.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

This unit can be completed through the following methods:

  1. Online Option – $125 (6 months to complete the course)
  2. Upgrade Option (CHCPRT025) – $75
  3. Face to Face Workshop – 7 hours which includes assessments (Email [email protected] to discuss prices)
  4. Face to Face Workshop/Online Combined Option – 3 hour workshop then assessments completed online (Email [email protected] to discuss prices)

Option 1: Online Course – $125

The Online Child Protection Course consists of a series of Short Answer Questions, and a small number of Short Project Questions. This assessment is provided to students in a word document, and students are provided with a Learner Guide in PDF Format.

Students are provided with a Learner Guide which is referenced in each of the Assessments, to help student complete the questions and locate the relevant information required to answer that question. There is also the requirement of a Supervisors Declaration to be completed.

Any enrolment is accompanied with a period of up to 6 months to complete the course. Realistically, it would take students about 4 – 6 hours to complete the assessments in total. Students should then also factor in the time to read through the learning materials.

Upon successful completion of the course, a Statement of Attainment will be issued straight away.

Option 2: Online “Upgrade” Course – $75

If you have completed the superseded CHCPRT001 course and are still working in the Children Services Industry there is a simplified upgrade pathway that can be completed. This will save you time having to answer all the short answer questions and project questions.

This pathway is designed to recognise your current skills and experience within the industry. Below gives an idea of what type of evidence may be requested:

  • Complete our online refresher course.
  • Certified copy of your Statement of Attainment showing that you hold the unit
  • Completed Supervisors Declaration
  • Answer several short answer questions in the “Upgrade Documentation” – these questions are designed to assess the skill gap between the older units and the most current unit

Option 3: Face to Face Workshop (7 Hours)

A qualified Trainer and Assessor can attend your workplace on a single day; on this day, the Trainer would deliver the content for the course, and work through all assessments. Students will also complete a number of different activities throughout the training to assist in the delivery and application of the content.

All the assessment activities would be completed throughout the training.

We do not set any minimal numbers for this training. Please contact us for a Quote. The Quote will depend on student numbers, and location. Generally, the cost per student is around $100 – $125. We try out best not too, but some travel costs may apply.

Our service areas are within a couple of hours of Sydney in NSW, and Toowoomba/Brisbane area in QLD. We can travel outside of this; however, travel costs may apply.

Option 4: Face to Face/Online Combined

This pathway would involve a Qualified Trainer/Assessor attending a workplace on a given day/night for 2-3 hours. We would suggest 3 hours is a little better, but we can work with your time frames etc. The Trainer would present the content through a presentation, with group discussions etc the same as it would be done during the full day course. The Trainer would also explain the assessment requirements for the course e.g. full coursework, or upgrade pathway. Staff will then be provided with the full coursework (Option 1) to complete in 6 months after the course, or paperwork for Option 2.

This is a good option if you are a little time poor, or cannot spare staff for a full day. This option can be delivered at any time, and you can elect for a night course after the centre shuts for example.
